3 Tips on Feeding Cattle
One of the secrets to raising quality livestock is to ensure that you are feeding your animals appropriately. It’s not as simple as you would think; and it’s definitely not as easy as just giving your cattle hay and grain. If you want good livestock that you can sell for a hefty profit, you have to abide by a few things.
Get adequate feed.
While feed may look good initially, it doesn’t necessarily guarantee that your cattle would be getting the nutrition they need. To ensure this, you need to have your feed tested, making sure that it provides sufficient energy, especially come the colder seasons.
Determine a ration.
It’s not enough to have the right kind of feed. You need to give it in the right amounts, and at the right time, too. Otherwise, you could throw off your animals’ health, possibly even overfeeding or underfeeding them to the point of sickness.
Keep a good record.
It is also possible that your initial ration plan wouldn’t be completely appropriate for your cattle, which is why keeping a detailed and accurate record of your feeding is advisable. This way, you can make adjustments as you go, observing which changes effect a positive change.
You can’t have a successful ranch if you don’t have quality animals. If you don’t give proper attention to feeding your cattle, you can hardly expect to reap attractive profit.
