Turning Ranch Land for Sale into Top-Grade US Beef Cattle Ranches

There are many reasons why people would look to purchase large ranch land for sale from a reputable brokerage such as The Mirr Ranch Group, but, for the most part, they buy this type of property for investment purposes. While some people may think about turning their newly acquired property into a breeding ranch or a dude ranch, the smart investor knows that using it for beef cattle ranching is the most profitable move. A report from Agricultural News, stating that profits from 2013 beef exports are on pace to beat those from 2012, even supports this notion:

U.S. Exports

“In 2012, we exported $5.5 billion of beef and $6.2 billion of pork, and year to date, we’re running ahead of that,” said Dan Halstrom, senior vice president of global marketing and communication at the U.S. Meat Export Federation. “We will have a new record this year in value exported and it will be north of $12 million.”

The real success for beef exports this year has been Japan.

“In February, we moved from 20 months to 30 months of age for the requirement to Japan, and that meant we went from 20 to 25 percent of our cattle for export up to 95 percent qualifying,” Halstrom said.

For the benefit of people looking to join the US beef industry, here is an overview of the breeds that produce some of the most sought-after beef in the world:

Beef ranchers love raising Angus cattle because of the breed’s incredible grazing-to-body weight ratio and the even marbling of its meat. Angus cattle are also known for their amazing durability and adaptability. Investors who opt to raise this breed can choose from a variety of beautiful ranches for sale in different states and not worry about how the cattle will adapt to the climate of a ranch’s location.

Seeing as Japan is one of the leading importers of US beef, investors may want to look into raising more Wagyu cattle. Although Wagyu is translated as “Japanese beef”, the majority of the Wagyu beef in Japan is imported from different countries.

With the US beef industry set to shatter the 2012 export sales record in 2013, people have all the more reason to purchase ranch land and to invest in beef production in 2014.
