HCR 8 adds that well-managed farms, forests, and rangelands can effectively sequester huge amounts of atmospheric CO2 in the long term by enhancing the natural process of synthesis and plant growth. The resolution also encourages the implementation of advanced farming techniques to enhance carbon soil sequestration on agricultural lands to increase drought resistance, as well as eliminate or reduce the use of pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers, along with the environmental damage that they have wrought.
